Washington County Projected Release Dates
A projected date is a calculation or tentative milestone, not a promise that someone will walk out at a set hour. Washington County Jail handles local bookings, bond releases, court-ordered releases, and local sentence completion. Potosi Correctional Center is a state prison inside the county, but its dates belong to MODOC. The same county name can therefore point to two different sentence systems.
For a county detainee awaiting trial, there may be no sentence from which to calculate a date. A judge can change bond, a case can be resolved, or another agency can lodge a hold. The Washington County Circuit Clerk maintains the local court proceeding, while the sheriff records physical release or transfer. For a sentenced state prisoner, DOC records may contain minimum and maximum sentence dates, and the Parole Board may set a tentative presumptive parole date.
| Date or event | What it means |
|---|---|
| County court order | Legal authority that may lead to jail release after processing and hold checks |
| Sentence minimum release date | DOC’s calculated minimum date on an active sentence, as defined in its data schema |
| Presumptive parole release date | A tentative Parole Board setting tied to conduct and an acceptable plan |
| Conditional release | A statutory supervised part of a qualifying state sentence |
| Final discharge | The later end of DOC supervision or legal custody |
Find a Washington County Release Date
Begin with custody type. MODOC does not cover every Washington County Jail booking, and the sheriff cannot calculate a PCC prisoner’s state sentence. Name searches can also match the wrong person. A DOC number, booking number, case number, and date of birth help separate similar records.
- For Washington County Jail, call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and ask whether the person is confined, released to the community, or transferred. Request the effective date and receiving agency when applicable.
- Open Case.net for the Washington County case. Read bond, judgment, sentence, amended order, and warrant entries without treating a court order as the physical release time.
- For Potosi Correctional Center or another Missouri prison, use the MODOC Offender Search. Search by DOC number when possible and copy each date label exactly.
- If the public result is absent or unclear, use DOC Offender Inquiry. Case-specific questions belong with the institutional caseworker or parole office.
- For final discharge, use the DOC Sunshine historical data and records route. The interactive search says it excludes discharged offenders.
The official MODOC search form shown below is the state entry point for an active Missouri offender. Review its current labels before entering a name or DOC identifier.
The search can establish active incarceration or supervision, but it is not a live Washington County jail-release feed and does not include fully discharged offenders.
For a direct county release confirmation, the full Washington County release record and search path pairs the sheriff’s dated event with the court order. A transfer entry must be followed into the receiving system rather than described as community release.
Missouri Release-Date Terms in Washington County
Missouri’s labels are unusually important. The DOC Sunshine data dictionary defines “Sentence-I Minimum Release Date” as the calculated minimum date on an active sentence. It also defines a sentence maximum release date. Special codes can stand for life terms, interstate or indeterminate matters, and assessment or investigation cases. These fields are state sentence data. They do not project a Washington County bond-out.
The DOC glossary separately defines a presumptive parole release date as tentative. The Parole Board assigns it, and it remains dependent on appropriate behavior and an acceptable release plan. A hearing is not the same as a release. DOC victim-services material says a hearing can result in another hearing or a future setting, and board decisions may take weeks.
The public detail screen is CAPTCHA and session protected, and no field literally labeled “Projected Release Date” was confirmed there. Do not rename a minimum date, maximum date, conditional-release date, or presumptive parole date to fit a generic phrase. The label identifies both the decision-maker and how much confidence the date deserves.
After a person leaves prison, the date question can shift again. Parole or conditional release begins community supervision, while final discharge ends it. An active search may still return a person who is out of prison because DOC supervision continues. Once final discharge occurs, the same person may disappear from that active-only tool. The historical Sunshine file, a targeted DOC request, and any discharge certificate then provide the more suitable evidence.
- Minimum release date
- A DOC-calculated sentence field, not an assurance of actual release.
- Presumptive parole date
- A tentative board setting subject to conduct and an acceptable plan.
- Conditional release
- A supervised part of a qualifying prison sentence structured by statute.
- Final discharge
- The end of supervision, which is later than merely leaving the prison.
Washington County Sentence-Date Rules
The repeated claim that every Missouri prisoner serves 85 percent is wrong. Under the reviewed text of section 558.019, covered findings and offender categories determine minimum prison terms. A dangerous-felony finding can generally require 85 percent of the court sentence before the stated eligibility routes, while other covered prior-commitment categories can involve different minimum percentages. The sentencing findings, offense law, sentence date, and current statute must be checked together. An eligibility floor is not a projected walk-out date. Board action, a release plan, other sentences, and holds can still matter. Applying a percentage to the charge name alone can produce a false date.
Section 558.011 provides another structure for qualifying prison terms. Subject to its exclusions, a sentence of years includes a prison portion and a conditional-release portion. The conditional-release portion is one-third for terms of nine years or less, three years for more than nine through fifteen years, and five years for more than fifteen years. Conditional release remains supervised discharge under the board and Division of Probation and Parole. It is not final discharge. The image below captures the official statute text.
The statute helps explain the sentence structure, while the individual judgment and DOC calculation supply the case-specific dates.
Note: Missouri earned compliance credits reduce eligible community-supervision terms; they are not a general prison good-time formula or county-jail calculation.
Why Washington County Release Dates Change
Release-date records change for reasons that belong to different agencies. A correction to sentence credit is not the same as a parole rescission. A new Washington County warrant is not the same as an institutional conduct decision. Compare the newest official label with the judgment, current custody status, and named decision-maker.
| Factor | Possible effect | Best confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Sentence or credit correction | Changes a calculated minimum or maximum date | DOC caseworker and corrected sentence record |
| Consecutive or concurrent treatment | Changes how multiple terms combine | Judgment and DOC calculation |
| New case, warrant, or detainer | Can prevent community release or cause transfer | Holding agency and court record |
| Conduct or program requirement | Can affect a tentative parole setting | Institutional parole office or caseworker |
| Board action or rescission | Moves or removes a proposed parole date | Exact Parole Board notice |
| Release plan not approved | Can delay a tentative community placement | Institutional parole office |
A hold is authority asserted by another agency to keep or receive custody. If the Washington County sheriff records a transfer to DOC, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody, the person did not leave all custody. Follow the named recipient. Likewise, movement from PCC to another institution is not a community release.
Washington County Jail vs PCC Dates
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office publishes a public office at 116 West High Street in Potosi and a phone line for current instructions. It does not publish a local release-date calculator. A court may authorize release, yet the jail still must complete administrative processing and check other holds. No verified local source states a release-processing hour, weekend rule, or general county good-time formula.
County jail credit depends on the judgment and applicable local or statutory rules. It cannot be borrowed from DOC’s sentence fields or from earned compliance credits. If the sentence record is unclear, obtain the judgment and ask the sheriff or court custodian which maintained record shows the applied credit and completion event. Do not estimate a date by subtracting a generic number of days.
Potosi Correctional Center, at Mineral Point, is run by MODOC. A PCC prisoner’s calculated sentence fields, parole setting, conditional release, and final discharge remain state records. The sheriff app cannot calculate them. If the person’s plan places supervision in the county, the current District 15S Potosi listing is a local contact, but office assignment must still be verified.
These channels can converge without becoming interchangeable. Case.net supplies the judgment. DOC supplies state sentence and supervision status. The sheriff supplies a county jail release or transfer event. Keeping each record tied to its custodian is the most reliable way to answer when someone may leave and when the person actually did.
Confirm Washington County Actual Release
Near a possible date, recheck the official custody record and the agency responsible for processing release. For a local detainee, ask the sheriff whether the event was community release or transfer and request the dated entry when needed. For a state prisoner, compare the latest MODOC result with the institutional caseworker or parole office. After final discharge, switch to the Sunshine history route because the active search will no longer return the person.
A VINE or MOVANS alert can add timely notice, but it reflects the reporting agency’s event and may lag. Washington County jail participation in VINE was not independently confirmed, while MOVANS is documented for DOC status events. The Washington County VINE inmate check explains how to match a specific record and retain confirmation without treating an alert as a permanent release certificate.
Use the exact event name in notes: released on bond, transferred to DOC, placed on parole, conditionally released, or finally discharged. That wording preserves the crucial distinction between leaving a building and ending custody or supervision.
